Nava 9 is a collection of 2-bedroom villas designed specifically to complement the main hotel at Tanjung Siung Lombok, a tourism complex that is set to host international events year-round. Located on the east side of Siung Peninsula, Nava 9 redefines the term "paradise" with its breathtaking 360-degree ocean views from every section. The design draws inspiration from the image of Yggdrasil roots, which end in magical seeds represented by the 9 individual buildings, each symbolizing one of the 9 realms.
The construction of Nava 9 utilizes wide flange steel for the bridge that connects the entrance area to each individual unit, ensuring faster construction time. The individual villas, however, are built using concrete structures to accommodate budget considerations. To combat the tropical weather, tempered double-glass is used for heat prevention, while solid-wood flooring adds a touch of natural elegance. Despite adopting a post-modern style, the designer has incorporated as many natural materials as possible to maintain a harmonious blend with nature.
The specifications of Nava 9 are as follows: the site area covers 1,469m2, with each unit having a land area of 78.6m2 and a building area of 167.58m2. There are a total of 9 units, each spanning 2 levels and featuring a rooftop level. The villas boast 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and various facilities including a kitchen, sky-deck, dining area, living room, and balcony. Additionally, there are shared facilities such as a thematic garden, outdoor dining area, infinity pool, pool shower, jogging track, ocean viewing seats, and a drop-off area.
What sets Nava 9 apart is the unparalleled experience it offers. As guests step onto the entrance, they are greeted with a view that cannot be found anywhere else. The main unit entrance is located at the very top of the building, requiring guests to walk on a sky-bridge while enjoying the open-air oceanfront atmosphere. Glowing stones are scattered along the bridge, enhancing the magical atmosphere. The ground level features an ocean view infinity pool, which is at the same level as the private thematic garden representing Eden Garden. From the side, the buildings themselves resemble giant tree trunks, further immersing guests in the natural surroundings.
Nava 9 Villas are located on the east side of Siung Peninsula as part of the mixed-use development of Tanjung Siung Lombok, a new tourism spot that will host international multi-sport events as well as private events. The design process for Nava began in January 2018 and was completed in February 2018. Construction was scheduled to start in Q1/19 but was delayed due to earthquakes in Lombok. The land clearance is now scheduled for November 2018.
The design of Nava 9 required extensive research and collaboration with the property developer to align with their vision for the tourism complex. While given the freedom to explore creativity, the design had to support the big idea of the tourism complex while fulfilling aesthetic and functional requirements. Faldo Andreo spent half of the design process searching for a concept that had not yet been implemented in any architecture in the country, ultimately landing on the creation legend as the inspiration for Nava 9.
Despite its unique features, Nava 9 faced challenges in its design and construction. The sky-bridge, while impressive, posed accessibility issues during the rainy season. To address this, ground level unit access was added via a lift and stairs, providing an alternative route during unfavorable weather conditions. Corrosion was also a concern for the wide flange steel construction, leading to the decision to coat all steel materials with marine paint and conduct regular maintenance every 5 years. The property developer also had to consider land expansion due to the existing topography.
Nava 9 is a testament to the power of design and innovation. Inspired by mythology and driven by a desire to create a unique and unforgettable experience, Faldo Andreo has crafted a villa that seamlessly blends with nature while offering breathtaking ocean views. With its reversed entrance, thematic garden, and open-air bridge, Nava 9 is set to become a legend in the world of design.
